On September 25th, Andrew Shawa delivered an impactful presentation at the CyberTech Conference 2024, focusing on lightweight AI-powered DICOM viewers for remote and low-resource settings in Zambia. The conference, centered around the theme "Spearheading Solutions for Secure Futures", provided an ideal platform for Andrew to showcase innovative approaches to addressing healthcare gaps through offline AI technologies.

We are thrilled to announce that Enterprise Medical Imaging Zambia (EMIZ) has been selected to participate in the prestigious ZICTA Innovation Challenge. This esteemed program, organized annually by the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) since 2016, is renowned for recognizing and fostering technological innovation across the nation.
The EMIZ project team is pleased to announce and celebrate the outstanding accomplishment of Dr. Ernest Zulu. Dr. Zulu has successfully completed his Specialist Fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology from the prestigious Zambia College of Medicine and Surgery, marking a significant milestone in his medical career.
Two members of the Enterprise Medical Imaging in Zambia team will be participating in the Data Science Africa (DSA) conference this year.
The DSA conference is a prestigious event held annually in which experts from around the globe and continent meet to share knowledge on data science and AI on the continent. The event is split into 2 events. Summer School and the Workshop. Malaizyo Gabriel Muzumala and Dr Lighton Phiri will be attending this year, with Dr Phiri scheduled to make a workshop presentation at the event.
We are proud to announce that our paper, titled "User-Centered Design and Implementation of Useful Picture Archiving and Communication Systems for Effective Radiological Workflows in Public Health Facilities in Zambia," has been accepted for publication in the SAICSIT CCIS Springer proceedings.
On May 15th, Andrew Shawa, a research student from the Enterprise Medical Imaging in Zambia (EMIZ) project, presented an engaging colloquium titled "Intelligent DICOM Viewers: Orthanc Plugin for Semi-Automated Interpretation of Medical Images." This talk was part of the 2023/24 CSC 5741 seminar series, aimed at bridging the gap between academic research and practical applications in medical imaging.
