Team members return from an Exciting MICCAI 2024

Our team members Andrew Shawa and Malaizyo Gabriel Muzumala were in attendance at MICCAI 2024 and have safely returned. They were able to attend thanks to the generous support of MICCAI through their African travel grants. The 2 participated in various workshops and events and created valuable networks in industry and academia who will serve the project in the future.

Dr. Zulu has successfully completed his Specialist Fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology from the prestigious Zambia College of Medicine and Surgery, marking a significant milestone in his medical career.

EMIZ Team Participating in Data Science Africa 2024 Workshop and Summer School

Two members of the Enterprise Medical Imaging in Zambia team will be participating in the Data Science Africa (DSA) conference this year.

The DSA conference is a prestigious event held annually in which experts from around the globe and continent meet to share knowledge on data science and AI on the continent. The event is split into 2 events. Summer School and the Workshop. Malaizyo Gabriel Muzumala and Dr Lighton Phiri will be attending this year, with Dr Phiri scheduled to make a workshop presentation at the event.

Andrew Shawa Delivers Insightful Talk on Intelligent DICOM Viewers at Academic/Industry Colloquium

On May 15th, Andrew Shawa, a research student from the Enterprise Medical Imaging in Zambia (EMIZ) project, presented an engaging colloquium titled "Intelligent DICOM Viewers: Orthanc Plugin for Semi-Automated Interpretation of Medical Images." This talk was part of the 2023/24 CSC 5741 seminar series, aimed at bridging the gap between academic research and practical applications in medical imaging.
