Two members of the Enterprise Medical Imaging in Zambia (EMIZ) Project Team, Dr. Peter Chibuta and Elijah Chileshe, recently attended the MICCAI 2025 Conference held in South Korea from 23–27 September.

The MICCAI Conference, recognized as a leading global forum for medical image computing and computer-assisted interventions, brought together researchers, practitioners, and innovators to share groundbreaking work in the field.

At the event, Dr. Peter Chibuta presented a poster at the MIRASOL Workshop titled “Global South Health Practitioners' Awareness and Perceptions of Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Radiological Workflows: A Quantitative Nationwide Study in Health Facilities in Zambia.” His research highlighted valuable insights into the readiness and perspectives of healthcare professionals in Zambia regarding AI adoption.

Meanwhile, Elijah Chileshe presented a paper titled “Large Scale DICOM Compliance Evaluation of Medical Image Data Elements in Low-Resource Settings.” This work focused on the importance of DICOM data quality in enabling interoperability and supporting reliable AI-driven solutions in medical imaging.

Their participation showcased Zambia’s growing contributions to medical imaging research and underscored the EMIZ Project’s commitment to advancing healthcare innovation through evidence-based studies and technological development.
