Biography
Dr. Veronica Sunkutu-Sichizya (FC RAD (DIAG), MBChB, BScHB) is a Consultant Radiologist and Head of Radiology Department at the University Teaching Hospitals’ Adult Hospital. She is also the current National Coordinator for Radiology Services and National Head Trainer—Postgraduate Radiology Training (Specialty Training Programme and M.Med Radiology) in Zambia. She is a Fellow of the College of Radiologists (Diagnostic Radiology) of South Africa and obtained her medical degrees (MBChB and BScHB) at the University of Zambia, School of Medicine. Dr. Sunkutu-Sichizya boasts of vast experience in Radiology spanning over 20 years and has gained international recognition across the United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Japan, India, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Her interests focus on Screening, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. Some of the notable contributions of her expertise to national programmes are found in the National TB Prevalence Survey Project, Multi-Drug Resistant TB (MDR-TB) guidelines, Radiation Protection Authority (RPA) Regulations, National Radiation Protection Authority Safety Guidelines and the National Emergency Preparedness Response Plan for a Radiological and Nuclear Accident or Incidence. Additionally, she has served as the government’s advisor on Radiation Policies in Medical Imaging.
