We are excited to share the wonderful news of our successful participation in the prestigious Pan African Conference on Science, Computing, and Telecommunications (PACT) held at the Confucius Institute, University of Zambia, Great East Campus. This event marked a significant milestone in our research journey and provided a platform to showcase our innovative contributions to the field of medical imaging and technology.

Our team presented two student abstract papers at PACT 2023. The first paper, "Software Tools for Supporting Automatic Interpretation of Medical Images", focused on the development of extensions and plugins tailored for DICOM viewers, specifically Weasis, Dicoogle, and Orthanc. These enhancements aimed to empower these viewers with automated support for medical image interpretation through advanced algorithms, including deep learning, computer vision, and pattern recognition. The second paper, "Large Scale Analysis of Medical Image Metadata", delved into the large-scale analysis of medical image metadata. We explored innovative ways to leverage metadata for better understanding and utilization of medical images. This research opens up new possibilities for improving the management, retrieval, and analysis of medical images, ultimately enhancing healthcare outcomes.

The PACT 2023 conference, held from September 12-13, brought together global experts from Japan, Nigeria, and Melbourne, Australia, both physically and virtually, to discuss "Harnessing Emerging Technologies to Drive Sustainable Development in the 4th Industrial Revolution." This theme aligned with our research goals, emphasizing the use of advanced technologies to solve real-world problems. Our participation provided a valuable platform for presenting our findings, networking with experts, and exchanging ideas, showcasing the collaborative nature of the academic and scientific community.
