We are absolutely thrilled to announce our successful presentation at the Metadata and Semantics Research (MTSR) Conference 2023. This achievement marks a significant milestone in our journey to support Southern African radiologists through the implementation of radiology report metadata.
Our research focuses on addressing the critical shortage of radiologists in Southern Africa, particularly in Zambia, where only nine radiologists serve a population of 19.6 million. We explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance radiology workflows and aim to develop algorithms and theories to assist radiologists. This includes characterizing effective radiology reports, modeling their structure, and creating tools to support human-in-the-loop authoring.
We are excited for the opportunities this research presents to revolutionize radiology practices in Southern Africa, particularly Zambia. By leveraging AI and advanced metadata techniques, we aim to improve healthcare outcomes and support radiologists in delivering timely and accurate diagnoses.
