We are thrilled to announce that the student abstract paper "Software Tools for Supporting Automatic Interpretation of Medical Images" has been accepted for presentation at the prestigious Pan African Conference on Science, Computing and Telecommunications (PACT) conference. This acceptance represents a significant milestone in our research journey, focusing on the critical role of automated image interpretation tools in the domain of medical imaging.
The paper delves into the development of extensions and plugins tailored for DICOM viewers, specifically Weasis, Dicoogle, and Orthanc. These enhancements aim to empower these viewers to provide automated support for medical image interpretation by integrating advanced algorithms such as deep learning, computer vision, and pattern recognition.
The primary goal is to streamline and optimize the image interpretation process for radiologists and healthcare professionals. By automating certain aspects of image analysis, these plugins promise reduced interpretation time, increased accuracy, and improved workflow efficiency. This technology holds immense potential to identify abnormalities, extract relevant information, and provide valuable insights to guide clinical decision-making.
The conference will take place at the University of Zambia from the 12th to the 13th of September 2023. We are hopefull this event will not only allows us to present our research findings but also offers a platform to engage with experts in the field and learn from their contributions to medical imaging technology.
